We went to Medicare Office @ Westfield here in Burwood… We just went over the counter and asked the staff on how to register on Medicare… We filled up some forms and were given a temporary slip so in any case if we’ll need to see a doctor, we can show the receipt or slip… We had just one number for us 3… and our names were just written in the slip.. and that’s it.. after a week we received a Medicare card already w/ our names on it.. J Reece, doesn’t have one since he’s still a baby… But he is already covered in our card…
Last week, I & Reece got sick so we went to a private family doctor, they had this registration for $55 but we got the $32 back because of Medicare… We just went to their office and claim the money
weee!
Medicare in Australia is really great! It’s not expensive and you don’t have to pay anything when you go see a doctor…

Hi there,
Enjoy your website, great source of info. I am going to recommend it to any of the asawas family members who finally move to Australia.
How long have you been here then? Its always great to see the Philo community building up here.
I am an Aussie myself, but very involved in the Phil community here in Sydney (see my website).
Knew I recognised the branch of the Commonwealth Bank. I live in the SE suburbs, but my friend and his wife live in Burwood and I am there every week
Anyway enjoy Australia. Perhaps we will one day bump into each other at a Phil function, there are many of them around.
Regards
Brad
